Jewelry packaging and zero-waste group.
As we know, we are a family business and our second generation has been selling jewelry. As we also manufacture and use many natural elements in our projects over time with the production of jewelry and admiration for the form, our awareness has started to increase and we pay more and more attention to the amount of waste we produce in general. The jewelry that we make often consists of a base for a cabochon flooded with resin or other natural products. We try not to generate astronomical amounts of waste. Leading wholesalers for over 10 years, we have been receiving kilometers of bubble foil and tons of paper from other manufacturers to ensure safe transport of jewelry blanks. We understand their concerns and know that they do this to prevent cabochons and other slides or delicate clips from being crushed during shipping.
Earrings and bracelets, generally speaking, are not essentials and we don't buy them every day. However, if we look at other industries, such as fishing and the way fish are packaged, we can find theses and studies that the amount of plastic in the water exceeds the number of fish.
We are a generation that can remember or talk to people who remember what rubbish segregation was like during communism. Of course, maybe it was dictated by the lack of economic efficiency technology, etc., but the milk was in glass bottles, you could take the glass bottle to the store, everything was packed in paper, even fish :). We had reusable bags and the instruction for the TV did not come in 20 languages.
As trends in jewelry change over the years, the whole world is also changing. Also the way we pack packages and products in general.
So what can we do to protect our planet? We can definitely start with our habits. We know it's easier to use transparent bags in stores because you can see the products, but we can bring our own bag and help the seller calculate what's inside.
There are also stores that sell products without packaging ... It is a cool idea, we wonder what is happening in the back room when these products are poured into containers ... It is definitely a good step because at least customers come with their own container. The scale of the problem is serious, let's imagine that we open products in a store and leave the packaging. We are convinced that the amount of waste and unnecessary paper foil would make sellers and producers aware of looking for more ECO solutions.
What can we do when selling semi-finished products for jewelry, whether earrings or cabochon bases can be packed differently? We observe the zero waste movement and try to eliminate unnecessary foil or paper. Each package is different, sometimes we send bookmarks or flat base for earrings and we can opt-out of additional protection. Our customers can choose the Zero Waste packaging option and we can see that more and more people choose this form, although in online shopping it may increase the chances of damaging the package, it also gives our planet a chance to breathe, which for us and our team is also important.
